Backstage to runway

Runway

TRESemme did the impossible. The brand mounted the country’s first ever backstage to runway fashion show, which means the audience got to see what was happening backstage while the fashion show was ongoing. It was so exciting! We were given a first-hand look into what really happens backstage. And as we found out, it was a flurry of activity, as models had their hair and makeup done, did quick outfit changes, and lined up to walk to timed music on the runway. These are the things you wouldn’t normally think about when watching a fashion show, since your focus is on the cool, calm and confident models strutting their stuff on the runway. What we don’t see is the organized chaos happening backstage, which I have to admit, was something new and refreshing to watch. And I really loved being able to see what hair professionals use to style the models’ hair–I mean, runway hair is almost always perfect. It makes you wonder what they do to make hair stay that way.

If you remember a couple of weeks back I blogged about the biggest casting call organized by TRESemme–you can read about it HERE. Over 800 top and aspiring models from all over the country tried their luck, and only 200 models were chosen. Well, this was the culmination of all that: TRESemme’s 2014 Runway Ready Fashion Show! Hair professionals and TRESemme’s style setters, Jing Monis, Lourd Ramos and Victor Ortega worked on the huge fashion show and did an amazing job. We saw playful braids, sleek side-part hairstyles, bumped up ponytails for the High Street looks; geometric shapes, one-sided mermaid waves and faux bobs with short waves for Pret-a-Porter fashion trends; and volumetric curls for Haute Couture creations. This was such a huge and successful event–I feel so lucky to have been a part of this.

88I really loved my dress that evening. It was by Vania Romoff. My makeup was by John Pagaduan and hair by the TRESemme team.

79I interviewed these two for TRESemme’s behind-the-scenes video. They are, of course, Francis Libiran and his business manager Arsi Baltazar.
