A must-see movie for Winnie the Pooh fans: Christopher Robin

I don’t recall ever doing a movie review, so this is a first. But I guess this particular movie was so touching I was compelled to write a blog post about it.

Now, I’m sure not all of you are familiar with the name Christopher Robin. But if you’re a Winnie the Pooh fan, well then you’ll know that he is the little boy who plays with Winnie and the gang in a magical forest. I used to grow up watching Winnie the Pooh cartoons so I know the name/character from the movie and series. But if you don’t know him, well, then this movie is perfect for you.

This beautiful film is about that boy, but it shows him decades later–after attending boarding school and university, getting married and having a baby girl. He is now working as a clerk and is very busy with his everyday life. His days spent with Winnie the Pooh and the gang are now but a distant memory, and he is struggling to make time for his busy work schedule and family life.

This is something we busy parents can relate to, as we get lost in our long lists of things to do, a heavy workload and crazy schedule, that we barely have time for our spouses and kids. Actually I love that it takes a movie like this to remind us of what is really important. It is not the deadlines and the chaotic work life, but the time spent with our loved ones.

So, okay, guess what happens when Christopher Robin finds himself in a work-related bind? Well, his old childhood friends come to his rescue! Of course, Christopher does not take this well initially (who would–it seems like a crazy idea after all). But after spending time with his most treasured and loving friends, he realises what is most important: TIME and FAMILY. It is a fun ride of happy disbelief that tugs at the heartstrings and reminds us of our own forgotten childhood.

This heartwarming film, Disney’s Christopher Robin is showing in all cinemas for a limited time so be sure to bring the whole family. It will make you laugh and cry, and remember what it was like to be a kid again. #ChristopherRobinPH #WinnieThePooh
