Look what I found! A feature from Raymond Gutierrez’s column (Philippine Star): The Dialogue. We shot this back in 2010 back when I was still doing Wowowee. How time flies!
The Misa Appeal.
“I need a knock-knock joke for tomorrow!” exclaims Kelly Misa as she sits on the makeup chair, half jokingly seeking help for another round of do-it-yourself jokes assigned to each host of noontime heavyweight, Wowowee. Since joining the show three weeks ago, Kelly’s life has been turned upside down: waking up extra early to prepare herself for the fully charged culture behind a live television show. “I auditioned Thursday and by Saturday, I was launched as one of the new hosts. It was a really fast process!”
With her background, diving headfirst into the unknown is something Kelly is used to. Being a top model since 2001 and counting her commercial for Pond’s as one of her most memorable, she’s hoping to translate her modeling success onto the world of television.
She’s a familiar face in print and is even a magazine beauty editor, so why the big switch to showbiz? “I wanted to try something different. I’ve been offered before but I wasn’t ready,” she explains. “In the short time that I’ve been doing it, I’ve learned a lot and I never realized it was such a fun environment. Veteran hosts like Mariel Rodriguez and Valerie Concepcion have been giving me tips on how to host properly.”
With her new daily stint and a new show in the works opposite Jake Cuenca, hers will be a household name in no time. Kelly Misa answers this week’s “The Dialogue”:
THE DIALOGUE: The elections are right around the corner. If you became president of the Philippines, what would be the first thing on your agenda?
KELLY MISA: If I were president, I would focus on creating more jobs for Filipinos. That and spend more money on education.
If you could bring someone back to life, who would it be and why?
My grandmother, Rosie Galvez. I really miss her.
What are your backstage beauty rituals before facing the world?
I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but if I have to, I wear cream blush, mascara and a touch of lip balm.
What’s the most rewarding thing that you’ve done in the past five days?

Right now, it’s Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. (Laughs)
What’s the best advice you’ve received prior to your noontime show debut?
“You don’t need to explain yourself to anyone. Do what makes you happy.”
Much has been said about Wowowee’s main man. How is Willie Revillame as a coworker?
When it comes to work, Willie really gives 100 percent and he expects no less from everyone else. He is really so dedicated to making Wowowee the number one noontime show.

What mantra do you live by?
“Live each day as if it were your last.”
If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be?
If I could be someone else for a day, I would want to be Julia Roberts.
If we were to raid your fridge right now, what would we find?
Not much in my fridge right now — I can’t seem to find time to go to the grocery. Right now you’ll find only water, soy milk and juice!
Who is your red carpet hero?
Gwyneth Paltrow. She always looks so elegant and put-together.
Any interesting dreams lately?
Nope. I haven’t been dreaming lately, which means I haven’t been sleeping well. (Laughs)
When are you happiest?
When I’m at the beach, relaxing with friends.
What puts you in a dour mood?
When negativity is around me.
What should men never say?
Men should never say, “You look tired” to a woman, no matter how tired she looks.
What should women never do?

What enters your mind before going to bed?
All the things I have to do the next day, and to think of a new knock-knock joke for Wowowee. (Laughs)
