If you’re looking for a quaint place to take your date or maybe catch up with a longtime friend, let me suggest CAFE 1771 at El Pueblo. Known for its hearty, delicious dishes, and its cozy, welcoming interiors, Cafe 1771 is a resto that won’t disappoint. I’ve been intrigued by this place for sometime now, but never found the time to try it as I’ve already moved from the North to Makati area. Finally I was able to sample its menu, thanks to a shoot organized by The Pats (Patty Laurel and Patrick Filart)–which you can read about HERE.
Not only did I love its pretty Parisian interiors, but its dishes were SO GOOD! They serve the type of food that makes you happy, which are basically all rich and savory food. Their specialities are Organic Chicken in Potato Crust, Sauteed Sea Bream, Lamb Shoulder Chops, Salbacho Pizza and Florentine Fondue. YUM! I especially enjoyed the lamb chops–it was so flavorful, a must-try! I also had Chicken Caesar Salad, only because its a favorite, as well as an Artichoke Dip–both were exceptional. But what I really loved were the yummy baked goods available at the counter. They are baked fresh everyday, and for someone with a sweet-tooth like myself, these were very satisfying.
Café 1771 is an explosion of bright colors. It is like the first time one sees a bank of tulips. It is a sidewalk in Paris or London in the spring – where everything is fresh, bubbly and happy to be alive. The food at Café 1771 has a spirit of fun, a spirit of discovery. Café 1771 serves fascinating sandwiches; huge breakfasts; gooey lasagnas and unusual pizzas; desserts scrumptious enough for tea with a duchess; and fragrant, tender stews.
To offer a dining place and a venue for leisure to the diverse markets of the Ortigas Center who have different wants, needs, and expectations. There are those who just want a quick and unfussy meal–Cafe 1771 has a section called Whimsy just for them. The old time Chateau 1771 patrons, executives, and expats who want to enjoy a private and quiet meal can go to The Lounge. (Press release)
