If there’s one thing I miss from not being pregnant, its having a cocktail (or two) when I feel like it. I’m not an alcoholic, I just enjoy the occasional drink. Of course, those days are long gone, until I discovered the next best thing: virgin cocktails or mocktails! Now for some of you, it may be pointless to have a cocktail without the alcohol, but for me, I’ll take it any day. Anyway, its the taste I miss and not the buzz (haha or so I tell myself).
So there was this one day when I suddenly craved for one of my favorite cocktails: Bloody Mary, and I just had to have one. And off to the grocery I went to pick up the ingredients for this yummy drink. I figured its a healthy drink anyway since its mostly tomato juice (better than other sugary mocktails). It turned out to be really good–I just had to share this recipe! Again, to be clear, I drank this Bloody Mary VIRGIN! I am NOT endorsing alcohol during pregnancy. 1 can (11 1/2 ounces) V8 juice or tomato juice, chilled
1/4 cup beef broth
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 celery salt or celery seed + salt
1/8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Dash hot pepper sauce or Tabasco
celery sticks
In a small pitcher, combine first six ingredients. Serve over ice with celery sticks.
To make this non-virgin, add 1/4 cup vodka to the mixture.
