It’s been awhile since I last blogged about my breastfeeding journey. As you know, I am still nursing my 16-month old baby and I have no plans of stopping anytime soon. My plan from the beginning was to breastfeed Tristan until he turned one. But then I kept on extending until I finally decided to let him self-wean. To be honest, this decision still surprises me as I remember doing a countdown during my sixth or seventh month. I wanted to be able to drink alcohol and coffee again and wear high neck tops and dresses, until I realized those things weren’t as important as feeding my son. Of course, Tristan is my first priority and seeing him thriving and healthy ultimately helped me make this decision (to let him self-wean). And from the looks of it, he has no plans of doing it any time soon!
I came across this episode of BFF: Breastfeeding Friends (it’s a mini online show I did with my good friend Nicole Hernandez-de los Angeles, which was produced by Natalac) and I couldn’t help but feel sentimental about my breastfeeding journey. We shot this a few months after I gave birth so the first latch was still very fresh in my mind. I kind of forgot some of the things I said here, and I’m glad I am able to revisit and remember the experience through this video. Hay, moms, if you can keep a video journal of your birthing and breastfeeding journey, do it! There is so much we end up forgetting especially since we don’t get enough sleep and there are so many things happening at the same time. You will definitely want to look back and remember these crazy days when the kids are still so little.
Anyway, I hope you like this mini show! Please share your first latch stories on the comments section–I would love to read them! Oh, and take Natalac if you need to increase or maintain your milk supply. It has worked wonders with me and Nicole and we are so happy to recommend it to all moms out there who need it.
