When it comes to home appliances, Carlos and I can get pretty finicky. We’ve learned early on that these are worth investing on, especially when it can make every day life more efficient. I mean of course, we have to be practical too, and not purchase the most expensive thing in the store, but I guess it’s about finding that brand or product with a good reputation/track record that has a good price as well. We usually geek out and do our homework before making any purchases, which means we spend a good amount of time doing our research. We read product reviews and forums online, and ask our family and friends for their opinions, which usually work in our favor.
Once in awhile though, I get sent products which I get to review myself. This can be pretty exciting, because I get to test these out according to how we use them, and discover a brand or product I wouldn’t normally purchase right off the bat. One brand I recently got to review is THOMSON. To be honest, I haven’t heard much about this brand, which is why I was surprised to find out that it has been around for more than 120 years! Yes, this French brand actually has a rich heritage behind it, and this made me eager to find out more. I was happy to know that they have a vast range of products that spans from television, audio/video, information technology, connected devices, home, small and large appliances as well as healthcare and well-being, which is a pretty huge range if you think about it.
This time around, I only got to test run their small appliances. I love that these were exactly what we needed–getting them felt serendipitous; it was like it was meant to be (haha)! On the list of Thomson appliances we got to try were the Stainless Steel Coffee Maker, the Citrus Juicer and the Handheld Garment Steamer. Scroll down to read my review of these three.
Thomson Stainless Steel Coffee Maker. When Tristan was born, Carlos discovered his love for coffee. Having a newborn in the house meant we had to be up to take care of our little one pretty much all day and night (we slept in three hour intervals), especially since we only had a nanny when we went to work, or had to get out of the house. For more than a year now, Carlos has been trying (and appreciating) new coffee blends and has been drinking quite a few cups of coffee per day, until our old coffee machine broke. Thankfully, we got this one from Thomson just at the right time.
I have my occasional cup in the morning (I cant have too much caffeine since I am still breastfeeding), and what we love about this coffee maker is that it can make a large batch and keep it nice and warm the entire day. We don’t even think about it. It is just there when we need it–yummy, hot brewed coffee. We love how reliable and easy to use it is–you just pop in the grinded coffee on top, add water and it will brew the coffee for you. No muss, no fuss. We are definitely happy with this one!
Thomson Citrus Juicer. This one took us more time to figure out because there are quite a few moving parts that you have to stick together in order to work (you will need to consult the instruction manual for this one). Once you put it together though, it is so easy to use. We started with oranges and we made fresh orange juice. Then, we bought a lot of lemons and made lemonade. To be honest, at first I wasn’t sure if we needed this in our home, but after we made our first and second batches of fresh juices I knew this was a keeper. We can now make fresh juice anytime–no more purchasing branded ones with additives, preservatives and sugar. We know exactly what goes in our juice, which makes it a healthier choice for us.
Thomson Handheld Garment Steamer. I had a really huge industrial steamer years ago, but since it broke down I never replaced it. We would use the iron to keep our clothes neat and pressed, but not all fabrics can be ironed. Because of this, I’ve ruined quite a few tops and dresses because I didn’t have a steamer at home. So when I found out that Thomson had a handheld garment steamer, I ordered one right away. This is so easy to use compared to my old gigantic steamer and I can actually bring it with me when I travel! Using it is super easy: I put water in the container, switch it on and it will start steaming! This is a gem to have at home (no more destroyed clothes), and so convenient to use for travel.
Overall, I am very happy with my new Thomson appliances. They are super easy to use and they are effective, durable and hardworking. For more information, check out www.thomsonconsumer.com. Thomson is available in all leading department stores.
