Hey everyone! I would like you to meet my best friend in the whole world: Bianca Santiago-Reinoso. If you’ve been visiting my blog regularly and following me on Instagram then you already know who she is because I always post about her and her lovely family (especially her super cute kiddos, Liana and Juano). She is part of the Baby Barangay (my mommy life support group) and has been my bestie since our college days. She is a huge part of my life (I love this girl to bits), and seriously, she is my go-to girl when it comes to “adulting” life issues (haha). That’s why I invited her to be my guest blogger today, because she knows what’s up and I am pretty sure you will learn and thing or two from her. <3 Read on!

How my school helped me meet my best friends
It’s no secret that Kelly is one of my favorite people on earth. We share the same birth month, our sons were born a month apart, Carlos proposed to Kelly the weekend after I got engaged. She commuted to help Raoul pick an engagement ring. The day she told me she felt she was pregnant, was the day my 1st trimester nausea stopped. I was already battling it for 2 weeks, and it was like the dizzy spells were just waiting for her to tell me so I could finally enjoy my 2nd round of pregnancy sabay with her this time haha! I really consider her my sister and I wouldn’t have met her if we never became OrgComm blockmates in our alma mater, De La Salle University.
Our college days were a good mix of hard work and fun memories. It was also during this time that I was able to meet my 2 other best girls. Kelly invited me for dinner and mentioned a common friend will be joining, true enough that common friend was Meryll, a familiar face as I always see her in the the College of Liberal Arts building also known as Miguel. The other person at dinner was definitely a familiar face, because pretty much she was the ‘It’ girl of our time (haha, you owe me, Nic!), Nicole. That dinner pretty much sparked our friendship and since then we’ve been inseparable.
They say as you grow older, your circle of friends get smaller but the ones who remain turn out to be the most important ones. I am quite lucky to have these 3 constants in my life. We have been through boyfriend problems, hangovers, fights, career advancements, engagements, weddings, death, and now, family life. To have their support and encouragement in these life stages makes me really think about my kids. I want them to find their own set of friends that will also influence them to be the best they can be, just like how their ‘ninangs’ are to their mom. I want them to be in a school that will foster these friendships, on top of providing good training and education. And for that, I really am thankful to my parents for working hard, sacrificing, and making sound decisions like putting my brother and I in a good school. I would like to think, we’ve all turned out great and this is also because our school has prepped us well enough for the big world.
Believe it or not, my husband – who is my batchmate and also a graduate of DLSU, and I have been discussing about our children’s future ever since Liana, our eldest could barely walk. We are pretty much aware that we have to start saving and investing for their education because we believe this is the best gift we can give aside from time and guidance. We are products of graduating from a highly reputable school and that’s what we want for them as well. Choosing a good school is very much important as sending your child to school. My husband has hoop dreams for my son, whom he wants to play in the NBA someday, while my daughter is showing signs of wanting to be a doctor so I pretty much believe there is the urgency to start preparing for this now, because I fully support these dreams for them too.
Finding the right friends, making sure they become what they want to be, and putting them in a really good school are just some of my dreams for my children. I’m pretty sure Kelly, Nicole, and all other parents out there share the same. After all, we only want what is best for our loved ones. Lucky for us Baby Barangay mamas, we have been invited by Philam Life to learn about this great opportunity that could help us get all these for our kids. Stay tuned for my next post as I share with you the things I like about Philam Life’s Future Scholar.
