Inspired dishes and Instagram-worthy interiors–see what Blue Ginger is all about

Just a few kilometers away from my home is this lovely restaurant in Sucat: it is called Blue Ginger, and I have to say, the food is as delicious as its well-curated interiors. The Baby Barangay moms, Bianca, Cat, Patty and I (Nicole unfortunately had work that day) were happy to sample their dishes, and enjoy the stylish yet homey interiors, especially since this was so close to our homes. I’m not sure why we were all expecting this to be a simple, quiet lunch, but it was far from it. We were completely blown away by how good the place looked, and spent the next couple of hours admiring each unique piece that completed the effortlessly stylish design. And then, came the food! The girls and I couldn’t help but enjoy the fresh but flavorful Asian dishes in front of us, as the resto served one tasty dish after the other. Seriously, we couldn’t move after–we ate so much and yes, all diets were broken that day.

Apart from sampling the best-sellers of Blue Ginger, we also got to taste the grilled meaty platters from its adjoining restaurant, Dumbo Smoke. If Blue Ginger is all about our favorite Asian dishes, like Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Kare-kare, Pomelo Salad, and Chicken Satay; Dumbo Smoke will satisfy all your grilled meat cravings, as it offers Roast Beef, Baby Back Ribs and of course, Steak, done right, and all in large portions that’s perfect for sharing. I love that guests can cross order from both restaurants without any problems, so that everyone is happy. I think its the perfect restaurant for our family celebrations because the food is great, the interiors are Instagram-worthy, and it is so near our home. And if you live up North, well, my recommendation is to plan a visit here (perhaps during lunch when there is less traffic) so you can try their yummy offerings.

The girls and I were happy to catch up with each other’s lives and see each other face-to-face (these days we only seem to have time for each other in our chatroom). And after this lunch, we’ve decided that this restaurant is conducive to long and happy conversations with your girls (or family members/friends). After all, we had everything we could ever need: a nice homey ambiance (it felt like we were in one of our homes), delicious food, and attentive staff. The few hours we spent there flew by quickly, and soon we were busog with yummy food, kwentuhan and laughter. We are already planning our next visit here, hopefully soon! Scroll down to see what we ordered (believe me, the food was as good as it looked), and also check out how good the restaurant looks. The girls and I had the best time here.

You can’t go wrong with Asian classics like Vietnamese Spring Rolls and Thai Pomelo Salad. The portions are generous, and so are the flavors.

I especially enjoyed this Curry Salmon paired with Crispy Noodles, and the classic Chicken Satay. The curry was so flavorful but not spicy (by request), and I couldn’t get enough of the crunchy egg noodles. I love the presentation of the satay–it was on a mini grill with smoke coming out. Oh, and the grilled flavors of the chicken paired with the peanut sauce is perfection.

Blue Ginger’s Pad Thai and Fried Lumpia is the way to go–we were happy to sample their best-selling dishes, that also happened to be our favorites when dining in an Asian restaurant. We loved the mix of sweet and tangy flavors–these are must-orders!

To our surprise, we were served a large assortment of dishes from it’s next door resto, Dumbo Smoke. All this grilled meat somehow balanced the Asian flavors–it was a little heavy, but thankfully we all shared one order. We had Tender Roast Beef and Smoky Flavored Ribs that came with a generous offering of side dishes, like Pumpkin Soup, Baked Potato, Baked Beans and Potato Salad! Note to self: must come back to try more of Dumbo Smoke’s dishes as well.

Oh, and if you should order one dish, it has to be Kare-kare! It is so peanut-y and flavorful, it felt like lutong-bahay. We all enjoyed this dish very much, and were seriously contemplating on seconds (we were too full though).

And for dessert, you have to try their famous Ube Cheesecake!!! This is one dessert I don’t mind breaking my diet for–it is so good! I am also a fan of ube, so that’s another reason why. But seriously, this is a must-try!!!
