Something you might not know about me: Carlos and I had a very long engagement. We were engaged in 2009 and got married in 2012–that’s three years! Looking back, I’m not sure why it took us so long. I just remember we were both super busy saving up for the wedding (hmm, I guess time kind of just flew us by). Before we knew it, three years had passed and we hadn’t set a date yet. Finally, six months before our wedding day, we went to the church and booked everything. Haha, we even asked what’s your schedule like next month? Like we wanted to hurry it up and plan everything in one month! How crazy! Of course, the church and venue were fully booked–the earliest opening was on our wedding date, which was October 18, 2012. I think at that point we just wanted to get married. We were done with the engagement stage and wanted to move up to being man and wife.
With only six months to plan a wedding, I immediately felt the pressure. It was crunch time, and we had so much to do! For all the bridal stuff (my dress, my entourage’s dresses, flowers, cake, etc.), I turned to my girlfriends for help. I knew I could count on them to help me plan the most important day of my life, and true enough, they came through. And nearing the big day they planned two bridal showers for me! One big event with all my family, inlaws and friends, and an intimate one, just us girls. I laughed and cried on both occasions–my friends are just the sweetest!
