As a first-time mom, I have to admit, motherhood has been quite an extraordinary journey. It certainly has its up and downs, but at the end of the day it is all worth it, as the happy moments far outweigh the un-happy ones. Yes, everyday comes with a rollercoaster of emotions, which very likely includes feeling overwhelmed, confused, disheartened, sad, unsatisfied, nervous, anxious, worried, and many more. But can I just say, these are fleeting, because you get this insurmountable love and joy in return (like I said: ALL WORTH IT).
One of the ‘mom emotions’ I struggle with is whether I am able to give the best for my baby. These are the kind of thoughts that enter my mind on a daily basis–whether my breastmilk is enough, is he eating the right food, does he have enough playtime, is he watching too many videos on YouTube, are we teaching him to be social, is he using the right baby products, are we putting his health at risk in any way, and list goes on and on and on. To be honest, I wish I could just shut it off and not think about these things but I am a mom. And we moms can’t help but be moms and think about mom things.
And so I’ve made it a point to know everything there is to know about everything baby-related. Yes, I need to up my mommy game in order to give my son the best. So I’ve been all about discovering the best brands and products and finding out what is in them. My goal is to be able to confidently read (and understand) labels and know if the product is safe or not.
So, okay, one of the products I’ve been wary about since Tristan was born is baby powder. If you Google-search it you will find out that there’s a big controversy about it. There was recently a huge lawsuit against a popular baby brand that linked talc to cancer (pretty scary stuff). The court awarded $72 million to the plaintiff in the lawsuit! Also, talc is actually banned in the European Union and has limited commercial use in Canada, which is a big red flag for us moms.
So what is actually safe to use as an alternative? TALC-FREE powder, and Belo Baby makes it! The difference is that talc-free powder is made from certified natural and finely milled rice and maize. It DOES NOT contain TALC at all, and it is carefully formulated without gluten, phthalates, parabens, dyes, and most common allergens. Which means we moms can still use powder on our babies, as long as it is talc-free (and from Belo Baby).
I’ve been using Belo Baby Talc-Free Powder for a few months now (especially now that its been so hot) so I know how amazingly effective it is. Here are the things I love about it: (1) it is finely-milled and leaves a nice silky feeling on the skin; (2) it has a light baby scent that is so bango on Tristan’s skin, (3) it comes with a powder puff and super cute packaging, and most importantly, (4) it is crafted with care for the most delicate skin, for the most meticulous moms. Seriously, I cannot stop raving about it. Oh, and (5) it is available pretty much everywhere–in leading supermarkets and department stores nationwide and the price is super sulit (only P219.75)!
This is a must-have for your baby, especially now that the weather has been humid and muggy. It helps absorb excess moisture and sweat and keep your baby’s back and bum dry. <3
