My Travel Diary: Vienna

It was definitely love at first sight. Vienna quickly became one of my favorite cities the moment we arrived at the city center. From the classicist buildings to the modern architectural structures, the city is a feast for the eyes. It is both historical and inspired, we couldn’t help but feel lucky to be there and be immersed in the art, culture, food and music.

This time we travelled with my parents, Robby and Rose, and stayed with our family friends (the Melchors), so this was a different kind of experience from our usual Airbnb trips. We actually had people to take us around and show us the ins and outs of the city, which allowed us to move quicker and see more during the day. I also have a cousin who lives in Vienna with her husband and 3-year old, and she took us around to see family-friendly sights. We certainly covered a lot of ground this time, which was a great start to our Euro trip.

We walked around Schoenbrunn Palace, ate schnitzel, indulged in Sachertorte and drank local wine, and in between we found parks for Tristan to play in. What a treat it was to just walk around and explore the city center (Stephansplatz), admire great structures like St. Stephen’s Cathedral and sit and enjoy the view at local cafes. Vienna is relaxing but never boring, and it is wonderfully family-friendly I actually imagined my little family living there. Oh, and the weather was just perfect (we went in March)! The Fernandez-Misas enjoyed our stay, and we promise to be back soon!
