Here it is: my secret to how I can afford to travel the world with my family

It’s that time of the year again! The Great BDO Travel Sale just happened, which means another year of travel for the Fernandezes. It’s my third year to go to this much-awaited event, and as expected, I did not leave empty-handed.

Okay, a little backtrack. It was in 2016 when I went to my first BDO Travel Sale, and I was able to bag Europe tickets for my family via Cathay Pacific. We couldn’t resist the buy one, take one promo they had and Tristan could still fly for free at that time so we were so excited to go.

It turned out to be one of the best family trips we’ve gone on, as it was Carlos’s first time to go to Europe and mine in about 15 years. We went to Amsterdam, Florence, Barcelona and Paris and had an incredible time. Though ok, it was somewhat difficult to travel with Tristan (he was only a year old and it was our first long haul flight) but it was also so much fun. We created core memories that we will remember forever.

Then came 2017. My parents saw our photos and videos and loved it so much that they insisted on going back. Also, it was the 100th year of Fatima in Portugal on May 13th, which is my mother’s birthday and she wanted to be there on this very special day. It’s a good thing when they decided to go, I had just gotten an email announcing The Great BDO Travel Sale. And so we went and I was able to get the same buy one, take one tickets from Cathay Pacific. It was a really good deal, and though Tristan was no longer free it was so worth bringing him. We spent three weeks in Vienna, Prague, Lisbon and Madrid, and we loved each of the cities we visited. It was also so great to travel with my parents and bond with them, which I know I would not be able to do again in the next couple of years.

Fast forward to 2018 and I was sure I wasn’t going to go to this year’s BDO Travel Sale. I had told Carlos during the holidays that this year we would not be travelling. Buuuuuut, as soon as I got the email announcement, I knew I just had to check it out. Because, travel deals!!! That is really my weakness.

Soooooo, what did I get this year? Tickets to Palawan for only P2,500 (one-way) via SkyJet. And tickets to Honolulu for only P30,000 thru Asiana Airlines. I know, I said I would not buy, but I couldn’t resist these amazing deals. I know I could not get them anywhere else so of course, when the opportunity is there, you have to grab it! I am quite excited to go on these trips this year and I can’t want to find out what adventures are in store for my little family.

There you go! Now you know my secret to getting amazing travel deals: it’s all because of The Great BDO Travel Sale!!!

If you weren’t able to go to the The Great BDO Travel Sale in Manila and Davao (held last weekend), well, there’s still time to book online. And for those in Cebu and Iloilo, you can still catch these remaining provincial runs:

(1) January 26 to 28, 2018 at SM City Cebu Northwing Atrium

(2) February 2 to 4, 2018 at SM City Iloilo

Happy travels!!!
