My Travel Diary: Vigan

There is so much to love about Vigan, and I feel so lucky to have spent the day exploring this gorgeous city with my family. What sets it apart from all the other places to visit in the Philippines is that it is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the country whose structures have remained intact. It is so well-preserved, it feels like I went back in time–what an amazing place to explore!

From the cobblestone streets to the unique architecture that fuses Philippine building designs and construction and colonial European architecture, Vigan has to be on your bucket list (if it isn’t yet). It was recently recognized for as one of the New 7 Wonder Cities in the World together with Beirut, Doha, Durban, Havana, Kuala Lumpur and La Paz and it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apart from the amazing food and warm hospitality, the city is picture-perfect. We truly had a wonderful time exploring this place.

You must be wondering why we only spent one day here. Well, the reason is because we took a cruise ship going there! We went aboard the Superstar Virgo from Manila and went on a six-day-five-night voyage that docked in Manila, and traveled to the port of Currimao in Laoag (where Vigan is located); Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Hong Kong and back to Manila. Ill be doing another post about our cruising experience soon. In the meantime, here are my favorite photos from our first stop: VIGAN.
