Starting my practice at L!FE Yoga

It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve been making time to attend yoga classes again. This was something I promised myself when I was still pregnant–that I would exercise and get back into shape as soon as I can. It has taken me some months to find my groove again, and have some time for myself (something I’m sure every mom goes through), but hey, better late than never! Seriously though, I thought I would never feel like my old self again. Thank God we found a part-time nanny (she goes home every night after dinner) and Tristan now follows a schedule. These have made a world of difference for me and my husband, and yes, I have time to exercise again!

I can’t tell you how much I missed yoga. I took up Bikram Yoga for some years, and prenatal yoga when I was pregnant so my body was really looking for the stretch. I finally found a place to practice that’s near me: L!FE Yoga in BGC! Gosh, I was so happy I think I cried a little when I took the class. My body felt so good doing the postures! And though I had to leave five minutes before the end of the class because Tristan needed to breastfeed, I was more than happy to be back.

Can I just say, this is the best yoga studio I have ever practiced in! First off, the studio looks so damn cool. It has gorgeous murals in every wall, and it has the an amazing view (both rooms face a golf course). Also, mats, blocks and straps are all provided in the room so you don’t really need to bring anything other than your water bottle. Next, the teachers are knowledgeable and approachable. They ask you where you are in your practice and give you options for each posture. I think this is so important because everyone has their own pace and it is great that you can actually hold back or push yourself harder for each pose. Another thing I like about L!FE is that the classes themselves are unique and interesting. I mean, of course, they teach the basics and work on your foundation, which is super important, but they also change it up with each class. Some classes play music while other classes are in hot rooms so you really sweat it all out. Lastly, L!FE Yoga is connected to a health cafe so you can eat well after your practice. Carlos and I like to wait here before our class start and load up on buko juice. Or after class we each order a sandwich or a salad and a fruit/veggie smoothie. It is nice that everything we need is in one place–that’s what sets L!FE Yoga apart from all the other studios.
